Alexander-Arnold strike pushes Liverpool closer to title, as Leicester fall 0-1, face relegation

Trent Alexander-Arnold marked his return with a stunning second-half goal to secure Liverpool a 1–0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, a result that inches the Reds closer to the Premier League title while leaving Leicester on the verge of relegation.

Introduced off the bench for his first appearance since March 11, the England international smashed home a left-footed effort following a set-piece sequence in which Liverpool struck the woodwork twice.

In a match reported by New York Times, his celebration — shirt off and arms raised in front of the traveling fans — underlined the significance of his fourth goal this season.

Despite the win, Liverpool’s title hopes remain on hold following Arsenal’s earlier victory at Ipswich.

The Premier League crown cannot yet be claimed by Arne Slot’s men, but they remain in firm control.

Leicester’s fate, however, looks grim. Needing a win to keep their survival hopes alive, the Foxes now sit just minutes from Championship football.

Stephy Mavididi created one golden chance, setting up Facundo Buonanotte, who scuffed his effort wide. Mavididi was soon replaced due to injury by 15-year-old prospect Jeremy Monga.

Late substitutions from Liverpool — including Curtis Jones for Luis Diaz — helped maintain control, with Harvey Elliott also impressing off the bench.

As stoppage time ticked on, Leicester looked out of ideas, a scene summed up by a collision between Wout Faes and goalkeeper Mads Hermansen as the final whistle loomed.
