The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), has confirmed that it had seized a motor vehicle Toyota Land Cruiser VX, registration number BLC 2179 which was in the custody of a renowned Zambian musician Elton Mulenga aka “Yo Maps”.

ACC Head of Corporate Communications, Timothy Moono, said the seizure pertains to investigations that the Commission was conducting relating to possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Moono said this in a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday following social media reports that the Commission moved in to seize the Motor Vehicle which it suspected to be a part of proceeds of crime.

He said the suspects were alleged to have acquired several properties including the said motor vehicle which was in Yo Maps’s custody but registered in another person’s name.

“The Commission has since seized the vehicle and restricted other properties as they are deemed to be proceeds of crime,” Moono stated.

He emphasized Yo Maps was not a subject of the investigations.

“The Commission will ensure that it continues to carry out its mandate with objectivity, regardless of the social and political status or religious affiliation of individuals involved in investigations,” Moono said.

He indicated that investigations in the matter were ongoing.

Social media had been awash with different sentiments from Zambians, among them D’Angelo DiSilva who wrote: I really hope people stop talking nonsense about these investigative wings and face consequences.

DiSilva said it was just not okay to bash institutions that were there to protect and enforce the laws, you know?

Let us just focus on making an honest living. Instead of going on about how many endorsements Yo Maps has or making assumptions about his networth, FIC has the real scoop on his income.

ACC stepped in to question how he got the cru cru, and it turns out his income sources just don’t add up.

He couldn’t even explain it, it’s like me asking you how you got your phone and you fail to explain.

Transparency matters bane. Let’s make legal money.

Another Zambian by the name of Misheck Mainza wrote: Atleast he drove it for some days even if it wasnt his . We knew it kudala che, we were just watching from the corner.

Anthony Mufumbi write: It is unfair to seize things without conducting investigations first.

It is the paramount cause of unnecessary sensationalism.

Vernon Mwaba Mwenya also wrote: Nomwaice nao – katwishi ngabututu nangu bufonteen – ifintu kutekanya! That car is too big to have been flaunting like a Fiat 127.

Vallard Chilengi stated that : “Were is the problem then, how many people have cars in different names,is this a political move, are they trying to fix the sleep Lion, could this be vengeance because of the hit song sole? 😂😂😂”
