The Chinese government has called for the strengthening of cooperation in the green and low carbon sectors of the Zambian economy.

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, Du Xiaohui, stated that this was in order to develop the Comprehensive Strategic and Cooperative Partnership between China and Zambia.

Du said this when he met Zambia’s Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Collins Nzovu, in Lusaka on Wednesday.

He stated that providing comprehensive support for the green economy and building a platform for green development were essential for the joint effort to build a community with a shared future for humanity.

“In the Year of China-Zambia Business Cooperation 2024 and the Year of Culture and Tourism, the two countries should implement the important consensus between the two Heads of State,” Du emphasized.

He said the two countries would strive for fruitful results in the area of green economy and sustainable development.

During the same meeting, Nzovu said that the traditional friendship between Zambia and China dated back a long time ago.

He expressed appreciation for the full support and substantial assistance provided by China for Zambia’s economic and social development.

“The broad prospects for cooperation in the green sector between Zambia and China will contribute to the sustainable development of both countries and to the global green economy,” the Minister said.

Nzovu noted that the historic opportunity for green economic collaboration between Zambia and China would assist Zambia in moving towards a more prosperous and sustainable future.
