A man in his early 50s in Ikeleng’i has committed suicide after his girlfriend denied him sexual intercourse and ended their relationship.

According to police, the incident happened on Tuesday this week between 20:00 and 22:00 hours in the Kalene area of chief Nyakaseya chiefdom.

North – Western province police commanding officer Dennis Moola said in a statement on Thursday that Philious Sondoyi 46 reported that his uncle Kennedy Kantumoya 53 committed suicide in his ex lover’s shelter by hanging himself with a cloth.

“A 53-year-old man in Ikeleng’i has committed suicide by hanging himself with a cloth after his girlfriend denied him sex and later ended their relationship,” Moola said.

He said in November the deceased had attempted to commit suicide by drinking an insecticide but survived after being resuscitated at the hospital.

Moola said on Tuesday, the deceased went to Katoka’s house several times to ask if he could be allowed to spend a night with her and have sexual intercourse but that she refused.

Katoka went to the field on Wednesday and was called around 11:00 hours that her former lover had hanged himself.

Mr Moola said police visited the scene and found the deceased body still hanging with a blue cloth tied around his neck.

He said the body was at Kalene mission hospital awaiting burial as no foul play was suspected.
