Girl, 14, dies after attack by crocodile in Manyinga stream

A girl, aged 14, has reportedly died after being attacked by crocodile in North-western Province’s Manyinga district.

This was after she went swimming where a crocodile attacked her in the Manyinga stream.

Northwestern Police Chief, Dennis Moola, said the girl went to swim with her friends in the stream when the reptile struck.

Moola named the deceased as Yvonne Nguvulu a grade 10 pupil at Loloma Secondary School.

“When the body was retrieved from the stream an inspection was done and the deceased was found with a fractured left leg, an open wound and multiple cuts on both legs,” he said.

Police received a report from Moses Chilemu 55 that his niece aged 14 was attacked and killed by a crocodile at Manyinga stream where she went to swim with her friends.

The body is lying in Loloma Mission hospital mortuary awaiting burial.

Moola also said the police do not suspect any foul play saying the family has been advised to proceed with burial.
