Govt urged to find homegrown solutions to address economic challenges

Zambia Must Prosper (ZMP) Party president, Kelvin Fube Bwalya, says Zambia’s economic problems lies in finding homegrown solutions and not in colonial imperialist organizations like the international monetary fund (IMF) and others.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on National Democratic Congress president, Saboi Imboela, at her home on Friday in Lusaka, Fube said the UPND government should be humble enough and begin negotiations with China.

Fube said the country’s debt restructuring will not see much progress for as long as the UPND government does not engage China directly, who is owed the bulk of the country’s external debt.

He said government should find economic solutions within the country, unlike seeking help from people who are only after the country’s natural resources.

“There is also the need for the opposition Political Parties to come together and offer solutions that Zambian people are currently facing such as a high cost of living,” Fube said.

In the same vein, Fube said it is unfortunate that Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo is accusing doctors and other medical personnel of stealing drugs in hospitals when they are no drugs in these facilities.

He said a Parliamentary Committee on Health undertook a country wide tour to check on the status of the drugs situation and issued a report of there being no drugs in hospitals.

“It is the UPND style of governance of shifting blame for their failures describing it as a one term “Chipantepante” failed project government,” Fube said.
