Haimbe holds bilateral meetings with counterparts from DRC, Zimbabwe, others to strengthen regional ties

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, has held a series of bilateral meetings with his African counterparts to strengthen regional ties and cooperation.

In a meeting with Thérèsa Wagner, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the ministers reaffirmed the warm and cordial relations between Zambia and the DRC.

They said there was need for continued collaboration to further enhance their bilateral relationship.

This discussion took place on the margins of the 6th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union in Accra, Ghana.

Haimbe also met with Frederick Shava, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including support for each other’s candidacies for international organisations.

In addition, Haimbe held discussions with Lejone Mpotjoana, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of the Kingdom of Lesotho.

They focused on key issues, including candidatures in international organisations.

Mpotjoana commended Zambia for hosting the 26th SADC Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO) on Politics, Defence, and Security Cooperation meeting in Lusaka.

Haimbe’s meeting with Peya Mushelenga, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of Namibia, covered topics aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing collaboration at multilateral levels.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Haimbe also conferred with Albert Shingiro, Minister of External Relations and International Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi.

They highlighted the enhanced cooperation between the two countries through the recently held Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation, which led to the signing of five agreements aimed at increasing trade and investment.
