Tanzanian President, Samia Suluhu Hassan, who arrived Zambia Monday on a state visit has been hosted to a state Banquet, a post on President Hakainde Hichilema’s social media handle said.
The Head of State later said Zambia and Tanzania shared a deep-rooted connection, and that Zambia remained committed to maintaining the bond.
“Our two nations are friends, partners and allies and this State visit of President Hassan to Zambia is a testament of these strong bonds that we continue to enjoy,” Hichilema said.
He called for closer people-to-people ties between the two sister countries to further boost trade and investment for the mutual benefit of the people.
“Once again, Madam President, please consider yourself at home, along with your delegation and our Tanzanian brothers and sisters while in Zambia,” Hichilema said.
He added that Zambians were eagerly anticipating celebrating the independence day with Samia and fostering increased trade and investment between the two nations.
“At the State Banquet tonight in honour Samia, we toasted to the closely intertwined and historic relations between Zambia and Tanzania forged by our founding fathers, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and Dr. Kenneth Kaunda,” Hichilema said.
