Immigration department detains Tonse-Pamodzi official, Mukandila

Zambia’s Department of Immigration has detained Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance official, Celestin Mukandila, for questioning over his immigration status, the department said on Thursday.

Immigration Department Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka, confirmed reports circulating about Mukandila’s detention and said he was in the department’s custody as investigations continued.

“Mr Mukandila, 36, was apprehended today around his residence as the Department of Immigration moved in to investigate a report concerning his status in the country,” Nshinka said in a statement.

He said the department would provide further updates as the investigation progressed.
