A Lusaka family has called on the Zambia Police to help bring to book suspects behind the mysterious killing of their relative, James Kampala, who died in February this year.

Kampala, 45, went missing on February 4, 2023 and his body was only discovered on March 3, 2023 in the University Teaching Hospitals mortuary.

Sister to the deceased on condition of anonymity, says his brother left home for work but never returned and that the family was alerted of him missing by his wife on February 7.

“The family immediately embarked on a vigorous search until his body was found in the UTH mortuary almost a month after he went missing,” she said.
The sister has revealed that his brother who was a truck driver is alleged to have been last seen by his business partner in Lusaka’s Makeni area before his mysterious disappearance.

She said after the body was discovered, police records indicate that the body was picked behind East Park Mall by Chelstone Police.

“The place where the body was picked does not match the location of East Park Mall, the family suspects foul play,” the Sister said.

She said the postmortem report indicates that her brother died due to strangulation, saying there is need for police to bring the assailants to book.

Lusaka Province Police Commanding Officer, Creto Kaanza, said Police are still investigating the matter and have called on anyone with information into the killing to help the police.
