One more dead body retrieved, as government seeks God’s intervention

One more dead body has been retrieved while rescue teams are working out modalities for the safe rescue of others.

Speaking during a media briefing in Chingola on Friday, Copperbelt Minister, Elias Matambo, who was part of team coordinating the search for trapped miners said one dead body had been retrieved.

“One body has been retrieved and two others have been sighted in the tunnels as the rescue team works out safer way of retrieving them,” Matambo told journalists.

He stated that the rescue team was working around the clock to ensure all the miners trapped underneath were recovered.

Earlier in the day, Matambo and Chingola based clergymen conducted a church service to fast and pray for miners who were currently trapped at Senseli open pit.

The church service was held at Jubilee Cathedral Church.

During the church service, Matambo said the church should pray for the safe rescue of miners.

Chingola Member of Parliament, Chipoka Mulenga, thanked the church for responding to the call to fast and pray for the miners who were still trapped.

Bishop Clifford Chisha said that Chingola needed God.
