The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has found Patriotic Front (PF) faction Secretary-General, Raphael Nakacinda, with a case to answer in a matter in which he is accused of making claims that the Government was committing genocide by importing maize and mealie-meal allegedly contaminated with aflatoxins.

ZNBC reports that Magistrate Mwandu Nakazwe ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Nakacinda, requiring him to be placed on his defence.

Nakacinda’s lawyer, Maluza Chongola, informed the court that his client intended to give sworn evidence and call 10 witnesses in support of his defence.

The court further directed the defence to ensure that it concluded presenting its case by February 2027.

Nakacinda is facing one count of seditious practices, contrary to the laws of Zambia.
