Premier League: Rampant Newcastle humble Palace to climb third with a 5-0 defeat

Newcastle United extended their winning run to six consecutive games in all competitions with a dominant 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace, a result that lifts them into third place in the Premier League table.

The Magpies produced what was arguably the best first-half performance of the season, racing to a commanding lead and leaving Palace with little hope of a comeback.

They are now just four points behind second-placed Arsenal, raising questions about whether a push for the runners-up spot is now in sight.

According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace, meanwhile, drop to 12th, likely extinguishing their hopes of European qualification through the league.

With that route seemingly closed, attention for Oliver Glasner’s side will now shift to the FA Cup.

To rub salt into Palace’s wounds, Newcastle closed out the game with “Glad All Over” ringing around the stadium – a song closely associated with the South London club.
