President Hakainde Hichilema is set to undertake a one-day working visit to Ndola on the Copperbelt Province this Wednesday, during which he will commission the upgraded Chilanga Cement Plant.

Copperbelt Minister, Elisha Matambo, announced the President’s itinerary at a media briefing in Ndola on Tuesday, saying the event marks a significant milestone in the region’s industrial revitalization.

Matambo revealed that the upgraded Chilanga Cement Plant will triple its production capacity to 1,500 metric tonnes of cement per day.

“The commissioning of the upgraded Chilanga Cement Plant will result in job creation. We expect Chilanga Cement to employ more people,” Matambo said.

He added that the development aligns with President Hichilema’s broader vision of revitalizing the Copperbelt economy through industrial expansion and mining sector recovery.

“This is the vision of President Hakainde Hichilema—to bring the Copperbelt back to life in terms of job creation and reviving the mines,” Matambo emphasized.
