On Thursday, the White House announced that U.S. President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with a medical condition known as chronic venous insufficiency.
During a routine press briefing, White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, revealed that the 79-year-old president experienced swelling in his legs, which led to a medical check-up and subsequent diagnosis.
This is according to a report by the BBC news.
President Trump was also recently photographed with visible patches of makeup on the back of his hand. According to the White House, the marks are unrelated to the vein condition and are instead bruises caused by frequent handshaking.

In a note released to reporters, White House physician, Captain Sean Barbabella described the condition as “benign and common,” particularly in individuals over the age of 70.
Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when leg veins struggle to return blood to the heart, causing it to pool in the lower limbs. This backward flow of blood typically occurs due to weakened or damaged vein valves—an issue more prevalent in older adults.
The condition can lead to swelling, varicose veins, and skin changes, but it is generally manageable with lifestyle changes, compression therapy, or, in some cases, medical procedures.
