Zambia’s Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert forecasting sporadic rainfall in parts of the country between April 11 and April 14, 2025, due to a low-level trough currently positioned over the Western region.

According to the alert, the weather system is expected to impact much of Zambia’s southern half, including Western, Southern, Lusaka, Central, Copperbelt, Eastern, and Muchinga Provinces, with isolated rainfall anticipated in these areas.

In response, the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment has advised farmers to take precautionary measures to protect their crops from potential damage.

“If your maize is mature, harvest early and ensure proper sun drying of harvested crops to prevent damage,” the Ministry stated in the alert.

“To make informed decisions regarding weather-related warnings, follow daily updates from the Zambia Meteorological Department.”

The Ministry also assured the public that, in collaboration with the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU), it would provide daily updates on prevailing weather conditions across the country.
