President Hichilema suspends High Court Judge, Sunkutu

President Hakainde Hichilema has with immediate effect suspended Justice Emelia Sunkutu as High Court Judge for Zambia.

Principal Private Secretary at State House, Bradford Machila, said the President was acting on the recommendations in the report presented to him by the Judicial Complaints Commission.

Machila in a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday, said the suspension of Sunkutu was in exercise of the powers vested in the President pursuant to Article 144 (3) of the Constitution of Zambia.

“President Hakainde Hichilema has with immediate effect acting on the recommendations in the report presented to him by the Judicial Complaints Commission suspended Madam Justice Emelia Phiri Sunkutu as High Court Judge for Zambia,” he said.
