Lusaka woman nabbed in Mufumbwe with suspected drugs, over K11,000 cash

Police in the North Western Province have apprehended Grace Banda, aged 35, of Matero in Lusaka, for being found in possession of suspected illicit substances.

The incident occurred on July 12, 2025, at approximately 19:40 hours, during a routine security check at Kikonge mine in Mufumbwe District.

Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, Chipo Kaitisha, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Lusaka on Sunday.

The items seized included 21 bottles of Bernelin with Codeine, 162 sachets of suspected marijuana, a quantity of unpackaged marijuana concealed in a plastic bag, and cash amounting to K11,070.00.

“Police intercepted a Toyota Allion, registration number ALX 5379, driven by Lawrence Siame, aged 26, of Mandevu Compound in Lusaka,” Kaitisha said.

She stated that the motor vehicle has since been impounded, and the case has been referred to the Drug Enforcement Commission for further investigation.
