Lusaka police have arrested Jeremiah Nkunika, 27, of Ngombe Compound and charged him with Prohibition of Harassment and Humiliation under Section 22 of the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025.
Police spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, said in a statement on Wednesday that Nkunika is being held at Kabwata Police Station and will appear in court soon.
The charge stems from a 15 April 2025 post on the Facebook page “Icilenkalipa mu Zambia,” which police allege was “false and malicious.”

Hamoonga also dismissed a Daily Nation report headlined “Youth Nabbed for Posting Crying Emojis in WhatsApp Group,” calling it inaccurate.
He urged media outlets to verify information with authorities to avoid misleading the public.
Police reiterated their commitment to enforcing cyber-crime laws and preventing online harassment, defamation and misinformation.
