Again, PF takes shots at ruling UPND administration, alleges repression, misrule

Patriotic Front (PF) Chairperson for Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Mwamba, has accused the United Party for National Development (UPND) government of exhibiting desperation to cling to power while presiding over what he called widespread misgovernance and corruption.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Mwamba alleged that the UPND administration was “collapsing under the weight of its own misrule” and accused it of abusing law enforcement agencies to target political opponents.

He alleged that recent actions by the government amounted to human rights violations and the institutionalization of dictatorship through repressive legislation.

“We have faith that despite the repression, the people’s spirit will not be shackled and will rise to emancipate themselves in the 2026 general elections,” he said.

Mwamba also echoed former President Edgar Lungu’s criticism of the Ministry of Health, arguing that the UPND had failed to address corruption allegations with transparency and seriousness.

He said the government had not published audit findings—both private and public—into the health sector and accused it of only targeting low-level officials while shielding senior figures.

Mwamba referenced allegations made by former ZAMMSA Director General Victor Nyasulu, who named former Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo and State House official Dr. Lawrence Mwananyanda in a corruption exposé.

He also cited Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Acting Director General Monica Mwansa’s revelation that five ministers and a city mayor were under investigation, claiming President Hakainde Hichilema had failed to suspend them.

Mwamba stated that the current government would be remembered as “the most corrupt since independence.”
