The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Board of Directors has appointed Webster Malido as the new Director General, effective September 15, 2025.

He succeeds the late Guntila Muleya.

In a statement, IBA Chairperson Chikosola Chuula expressed confidence in Malido’s leadership.

“Under his guidance, we are certain that Mr. Malido will continue to drive the digitisation agenda, streamline processes to improve service delivery, strengthen internal controls, enhance content monitoring, and promote compliance across Zambia’s broadcasting industry,” Chuula said.

Malido brings over 20 years of experience spanning journalism, corporate communications, and governance, with notable expertise in the financial services and development finance sectors across Africa.

Most recently, he served as Global Head and Senior Director of Corporate Communications at One Acre Fund, where he led major change initiatives, collaborated on climate-focused donor outreach, and established team structures across multiple countries.

His prior roles include Managing Partner at Aprio Group and Head of Communication for Absa Group’s Regional Operations.

Malido holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication with Public Administration from the University of Zambia and a Master of Science in International Business Administration from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
