The Ministry of Finance and National Planning has announced the release of K13 billion in August 2025 to finance key national priorities, underscoring government’s commitment to delivering budgeted allocations consistently and transparently.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the disbursements covered K1.1 billion for transfers, subsidies, and social benefits; K1.5 billion for programme implementation and operations; K740 million for capital expenditure; K4.8 billion for the public service wage bill; and K4.9 billion for arrears and debt service, covering both domestic and external obligations.
Of the K1.1 billion allocated to social support, K620 million went towards the Social Cash Transfer programme to sustain assistance to vulnerable households.
A further K119.6 million was disbursed under the Food Security Pack initiative, providing inputs to smallholder farmers and families in need.
Finance and National Planning Minister, Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, said the August allocations demonstrated the government’s resolve to translate fiscal plans into tangible development outcomes.

“The August 2025 budget releases reaffirm one truth: Zambia’s budget is not just a paper promise—it is a living tool for development. For ordinary citizens, every timely release enhances livelihoods, protects the vulnerable, creates jobs, and supports infrastructure that uplifts communities. No one is being left behind,” Musokotwane said.
He added that for businesses, consistent funding signaled stability and confidence, while for investors and development partners, it reflected a government serious about reforms, accountability, and long-term transformation.
“Each kwacha released dismantles arrears, sustains macroeconomic stability, and builds the certainty needed to attract investment. Budget credibility is about action, not promises. Every kwacha released is a step towards restoring confidence, protecting livelihoods, and building the Zambia we aspire to,” he stated.
Musokotwane stressed that the New Dawn administration remained focused on fiscal discipline and social protection, translating promises into progress across communities.
