Angola bow out of AFCON 2025 after goalless draw with Egypt

Angola’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign came to a disappointing end after a 0–0 draw with already qualified Egypt at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir, a result that sealed their elimination from the tournament.

Despite making several changes to his starting line-up, Egypt coach Hossam Hassan saw his side dominate the first half through composed possession and technical control, effectively limiting Angola’s attacking threat while failing to convert their superiority into goals.

Africatopsports reports that Angola responded strongly after the break, with coach Patrice Beaumelle injecting fresh energy by introducing Gelson Dala, Benson and M’Bala Nzola.

The substitutions lifted the Palancas Negras’ intensity as they took control of the final half-hour, forcing Egypt onto the back foot and applying sustained pressure.

However, Angola were unable to make their dominance count, with wasteful finishing and hurried decisions in the final third proving costly.

The draw left Angola with just two points from three Group B matches, ending their AFCON 2025 journey with a sense of missed opportunity.

Egypt, meanwhile, finished top of the group and advanced to the knockout stage with growing confidence.
