Newcastle United edged past Tottenham Hotspur 2–1 in a crucial Premier League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday.
Tottenham entered the match in a precarious position, desperately needing a win to ease mounting relegation fears and build momentum, while Newcastle arrived looking to climb into the top half and end a frustrating run without victory.
According to ESPN, the first half saw Newcastle grow into the contest as the visitors impressed with physicality and forward intent. Tottenham were toothless in attack for large periods, struggling to carve openings against an organised Magpies back line.

Just before the break, Newcastle struck first as Malick Thiaw reacted quickest in first-half stoppage time to nod home, giving the Magpies a deserved lead and dampening what should have been a lively home crowd.
Tottenham emerged after the interval with renewed energy and pulled level in the 64th minute, as Archie Gray’s well-timed finish restored parity and raised hopes of a turnaround for the hosts.
Yet Newcastle’s response was swift, just four minutes later, Jacob Ramsey swept home Anthony Gordon’s left-footed delivery, restoring the lead and swinging momentum back in favour of Eddie Howe’s side.
The closing stages saw Tottenham press for an equaliser, but the visitors defended resolutely.
