Police in Ndola on the Copperbelt have launched a manhunt for a man identified as David Zulu of Misundu area, who allegedly murdered his eight-month-old daughter, Nandi Zulu.
Police spokesperson, Godfrey Chilabi, said the incident occurred on February 10, 2026, around 02:00 hours at the family home, following a marital dispute between the suspect and his wife, the infant’s mother.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday, Chilabi said that during the altercation, the suspect allegedly struck the baby on the head with a shovel, inflicting fatal injuries.

“With the help of neighbours, the child was rushed to Arthur Davison Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police officers responded to the incident, and the scene was processed,” he said.
Chilabi said the body had been deposited in the Ndola Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
He added that the motive behind the killing had not yet been established and remained under investigation.
“The suspect fled the scene and is currently on the run, with efforts underway to apprehend him,” Chilabi said.
He appealed to members of the public with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward and assist police investigations.
