Kooma said she was looking forward to taking up the new role and working with the team to grow the business.

She noted that her background in sales, marketing and customer service had given her insight into customer needs, while her experience working across different environments had strengthened her ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Her career began at Barclays Bank before she moved into the telecommunications sector with Celtel, where she worked across several African markets.

In 2016, she joined the founding team of Vodafone Zambia and was involved in the rollout of the country’s first 4G LTE network as Chief Sales and Distribution Officer.

Cassava Technologies’ Sub-Saharan Africa Chief Executive Officer, Wellington Makamure, said Kooma’s experience positioned her to lead the company’s operations in Zambia and support its next phase of expansion.

Kooma also serves on several boards, including as Board Chair of the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, and is a member of the Institute of Directors and Business Professional Women International.
