Zambian musician, Pompi, has sparked public debate after criticizing Livingstone Crocodile Park for denying him and his family entry shortly before closing time.

Pompi shared his disappointment following an incident in which he and several family members—including young children—were turned away at approximately 16:40, despite the park’s advertised operating hours of 08:00 to 17:00.

The visit had been planned as a special outing, with some of the children expecting to see crocodiles and snakes for the first time.

According to Pompi, staff refused entry on the basis that viewing sessions take longer to complete and advised that the group should have arrived earlier.

He also raised concerns about what he described as unclear communication, noting that the park does not specify a “last entry” time.
Additionally, he criticized the interaction with staff, calling it unprofessional and lacking basic courtesy, as no apology or alternative arrangement was offered.

While some sympathized with Pompi, arguing that businesses should clearly communicate entry cut-off times, others defended the park’s decision.

Several commentators pointed out that arriving 20 minutes before closing may not be practical for an experience that requires guided tours and safety considerations.

Others likened the situation to attending a concert or studio session shortly before closing and expecting full service.

Some also emphasized that employees need adequate time to complete closing procedures and attend to personal commitments, particularly during busy holiday periods.

Additional voices highlighted safety concerns, noting that facilities involving wild animals must follow strict protocols, especially toward closing hours.

Allowing late entry, they argued, could pose risks to visitors and staff alike.

The situation has reignited broader discussions around customer service standards, the importance of clearly defined business policies, and customer expectations—particularly in major tourist destinations like Livingstone.

It also raises questions about how businesses balance operational limitations with customer satisfaction in high-traffic environments.
