Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji, is set to make her long-awaited return to acting after joining the cast of Wahala, a new drama production by bbc.

The broadcaster announced this week that the six-part series will be set in London and adapted from the novel by Nikki May.

Arise tv reports that the production is written by Theresa Ikoko and centres on four Nigerian-British women whose friendships, relationships and family lives are shaken by hidden secrets from the past.

The project marks one of Nnaji’s most significant acting roles since her appearance in Lionheart.

Although she stepped away from acting in recent years, the actress remained active behind the scenes in the film industry, serving as executive producer for I Do Not Come To You By Chance.

Speaking about joining the production, Nnaji said she was excited to work with the creative team behind the series.

“I’m very happy to be joining Wahala and to be working with such a brilliant team. It’s an intriguing story and I’m excited to be a part of it,” she said.

Ikoko also expressed excitement about bringing the story to television, praising the cast and production team involved in the project.

The series, whose title is derived from a Nigerian word meaning “trouble,” is being produced by firebirdpictures as part of bbcstudios and is expected to air on BBC platforms.
