The Energy Regulation Board has taken enforcement action against 29 companies for breaching licence conditions and failing to meet statutory obligations, following compliance audits conducted across the energy sector.
ERB spokesperson, Namukolo Kasumpa, said in a statement on Thursday that the actions stem from regulatory checks carried out under the Energy Regulation Act.
Among the penalties issued, Uno Energies Zambia Limited was fined K180,000 for fuel contamination and failure to conduct mandatory quality checks, while ZESCO Limited was fined K100,000 for failing to establish and maintain appropriate safety systems and standards.
Sany International (Zambia) Industrial Limited was fined K60,000 for constructing an electricity generation facility without the required permit.
Kasumpa said eight companies received formal warnings for failing to comply with an ERB directive issued on 27 February 2025 that required submission of self-audit reports.
The companies are Chingases Company Limited, Exclusive Brands Africa, Oryx Energies (Z) Limited, Falcon Gas (Z) Limited, Lake Gas (Z) Limited, Gastec Trading & Supply Limited, Rubis Energy (Z) Limited and Minegases Company (Z) Limited.
