Red Arrows forward, Kangwanda named Zambia’s player of the season (See other awardees)

Red Arrows forward Albert Kangwanda has been voted Super League player of the season at an awards gala held in Kitwe on Friday night.

Kangwanda overcame stiff competition from league top scorer Moses Shumah of Power Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors goalkeeper Mangani Banda to claim the most coveted individual prize.

“Such an award doesn’t come easy. Thank you to my family and Red Arrows Football Club,” Kangwanda said.

The Red Arrows talisman enjoyed a standout campaign, lifting the ABSA Cup and finishing as the league’s second highest scorer with 13 goals.

Power Dynamos Striker Moses Shumah walked away with the Fans’ Player of the Season award, while also scooping the Golden Boot for his goal-scoring exploits.

Power Dynamos Coach Oswald Mutapa was crowned Coach of the Season after guiding his side to the league title.

Kabwe Warriors shot-stopper Mangani Banda was voted Goalkeeper of the Season for his consistent performances between the posts.

“Discipline wins games and titles. I’m grateful for this recognition,” Power Dynamos midfielder Frederick Mulambia said after winning the Most Disciplined Player award.

FC MUZA Midfielder Given Kalusa was named Young Player of the Season following his breakthrough campaign.

Nchanga Rangers winger Jacob Kaunda’s strike against his former club Power Dynamos was voted Goal of the Season.

Late Roan United president, Pearson Mwale was honoured posthumously with the FAZ President’s Award, while Charles Ngandwe was named Referee of the Season. Power Dynamos supporter Kennedy “Yellow Man” Chishala was voted Fan of the Season.
