The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a Robert Dean Secondary School teacher for allegedly soliciting K90,000 from a job seeker in a recruitment scam linked to the Ministry of Education.

Charles Mubita, 30, of Kamwala South, Lusaka, has been charged with one count of Corrupt Practices by a Public Officer, contrary to Section 19(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, Chapter 91 of the Laws of Zambia.

ACC acting Head of Corporate Communications, Chilufya Chisanga, confirmed the arrest of Mubita in a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday.

According to ACC investigations, between June, 1, 2026 and June 15, 2026, Mubita allegedly approached a complainant and solicited K90,000 as an inducement to secure employment for the complainant’s sister under the Ministry of Education.

Mubita allegedly collected K50,000 from the complainant and later demanded an additional K40,000 to complete the deal.

Acting on information received on June, 12, 2026, the Commission conducted a trap operation during which the suspect received K5,000 as part payment of the K40,000 balance, leading to his arrest.

She warned individuals against exploiting job seekers by soliciting payments under the pretext of facilitating recruitment.

“The Commission wshes to further reminded the public that recruitment into the civil service, including teaching positions, is done through a transparent and merit-based process managed by the Teaching Service Commission and relevant authorities,” Chisanga.

She stated that no money was required to secure a government teaching job, and anyone demanding payment should be reported to law enforcement agencies immediately.

Mubita has since been released on police bond and is expected to appear in court soon.
