Film producer, David Kazadi, and model Mwaka Halwindi, together with their co-accused, Ruby Muzandu, have pleaded not guilty to charges of producing, possessing and circulating alleged obscene material before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court.

Halwindi, 23, appeared in court alongside Kazadi, 34, and Muzandu, 23, before Magistrate Kawama Mwamfuli.

The trio denied all the charges when the matter came up for plea.

The court set August 24, 2026, as the commencement date for trial, with the State expected to call eight witnesses.

According to the indictment, Kazadi is alleged to have, between January 1, 2023 and June 30, 2025, jointly with others, produced an obscene sadistic sexual video said to be “tending to corrupt public morals,” contrary to Section 177(1)(a) of the Penal Code.

He is further accused of circulating obscene material through WhatsApp, contrary to Section 177(1)(h) of the Penal Code. Prosecutors allege that he distributed an explicit video involving Halwindi.

Kazadi also faces a charge of possessing obscene material. The State alleged that he was found in possession of obscene items, including an object described in court documents as a sex dildo, said to be tending to corrupt public morals.

Halwindi faces separate counts of producing and possessing obscene material.

According to the allegations, she jointly participated in the production of an explicit video depicting sexual acts and is further accused of possessing an obscene video of herself engaging in sexual conduct.

Meanwhile, Muzandu is charged with circulating and possessing obscene material.

The State alleged that she circulated explicit videos through a WhatsApp group titled “Trip to South Africa”, allegedly using an iPhone 13 Pro Max belonging to Judith Chibwe. She is further accused of being in possession of the same content.

Prosecutors contend that Muzandu knowingly circulated the alleged obscene videos within the WhatsApp group and retained possession of the material.

All three accused persons denied the charges and were granted their day in court.
