The Zambia Police Service has launched investigations into a case of murder and aggravated robbery at Chaminuka Resort in Chisamba District.
Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi said the incident involved the death of Stelios Sardinis, aged 64, who was the Chief Executive Officer of Chaminuka Resort.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Sunday, Chilabi said the incident occurred between 01:00 and 01:15 hours at Chaminuka Lodge.
A report was received from a 52-year-old male employee of the resort.
Preliminary investigations indicate that unknown assailants, armed with offensive weapons whose type has not yet been established, forcibly entered the residence through the main glass door and broke into the bedroom.
“The suspects allegedly assaulted Mr. Sardinis and stole a safe containing documents and valuables, as well as an undisclosed amount of money,” Chilabi stated.

He said Sardinis sustained injuries and was rushed by resort workers to CFB Medical Centre in Lusaka, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival and the value of the stolen property has not yet been established.
Officers visited and processed the scene of crime and commenced investigations and a security guard who was on duty at the lodge at the time of the incident has been detained to assist with investigations.
“The Zambia Police Service appeals to anyone with information that may assist in the investigations to report to the Police through the toll-free lines 9010 or 9011,” Chilabi said
He extended sincere condolences to the family, relatives and colleagues of the late Sardinis and said further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
