Patriotic Front (PF) faction Secretary-General, Raphael Nakacinda, will call 10 witnesses in his defence after the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court found that he has a case to answer over allegations that he failed to comply with a lawful summons.
Resident Magistrate Mbuyawana Sinvula ruled that the prosecution had established a case requiring Nakacinda to enter his defence after considering the evidence presented before the court.
Nakacinda will give sworn evidence and call 10 witnesses when the defence opens its case.
The matter has been adjourned to September 14, 2026, for the commencement of the defence case.
Nakacinda is facing one count of failure to comply with a lawful summons.
The charge stems from allegations he made in November 2022 that the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) had deployed motor vehicles carrying pre-marked ballot papers to districts where by-elections were being held.
