Filming of new Zambian drama series highlights country’s industry match to global acclaim

Zambia’s film industry continues to gather momentum, with local productions reaching major milestones and international collaborations expanding the country’s footprint on the global entertainment stage.

Lusaka-born filmmaker, Cosmas Ng’andwe, has officially completed filming for the highly anticipated Zambian drama series Senzeni under Cosca Films, marking another significant achievement for the country’s growing film sector.

The completion of production is expected to pave the way for the series’ release, adding to a growing catalogue of locally produced content that showcases Zambian storytelling and creative talent.

At the same time, Zambia’s presence on the international film scene is set to grow through The Rise and Fall, a Nollywood-Zambian collaboration supervised by renowned Nigerian actress Patience Ozokwo.

The film features both Nigerian and Zambian actors and is scheduled to premiere in Zambia, Nigeria, the United Kingdom and Australia, highlighting the increasing appeal of cross-border African productions.

The developments come as international broadcasters continue investing in African audiences.

The combination of stronger local productions, international partnerships and improved access to global entertainment content reflects the steady evolution of Zambia’s creative industry and its growing role in Africa’s entertainment landscape.
