On Tuesday 18 August 2026, Spanish state-run TVE broadcasted information about a “contingency plan” by Pedro Sánchez’s government. This plan would include the cessation of gas exports to Morocco in the event of a repeated migration exodus to Ceuta.

This information, relayed by several Spanish media, was denied the same evening by the government. Sources at the Moncloa deny any order for reports on Rabat’s energy dependence, a Spanish media outlet reported.

The same sources categorically refuted the information of TVE’s “Mañaneros 360” stating that Spanish government totally deny the existence of a plan or report concerning an alleged emergency plan against Rabat. This information is false. Another Spanish media also confirmed, through a government source, that no economic retaliation plan against Morocco had been drawn up.

In addition, the account of the show “Mañaneros 360” on social networks has removed the posts concerning these so-called revelations on an emergency plan of Pedro Sánchez aimed at punishing Morocco.
