American singer Chris Brown has been given an eight-month custodial sentence, suspended for a year, after an attack at a London nightclub in 2023 which left a music producer needing hospital treatment.
Brown, 37, and his co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, 40, appeared at Southwark Crown Court after each pleaded guilty to affray in July.
The BBC reports that the court heard the attack left producer Abe Diaw with head and knee injuries requiring hospital treatment.
Judge Tony Baumgartner said CCTV footage showed Brown hitting Diaw with a tequila bottle, including striking him on the head, describing “the repeated use” of a bottle as “plainly dangerous”.

He said the incident took place in a “crowded” and “confined” environment and that the two defendants pursued Diaw and continued the attack after he tried to move away.
The judge said the incident lasted “no more” than 20 seconds and was not planned, but the violence was “intense”.
Akinlolu was given a four-month sentence, also suspended for a year. His role was deemed “significant” but, in contrast to Brown, he neither initiated the attack nor used a bottle.
Neither man will go to prison immediately, but the judge said their sentences should still be considered a “punishment”.
Both were ordered to each pay £1,500 towards prosecution costs.
