Access Bank says it has been named Best SME Bank for Women Entrepreneurs in Africa at the Global SME Banking Innovation Awards 2026, organised by The Digital Banker.
The bank said in a statement that the award recognised its efforts to promote financial inclusion, expand access to finance and support women entrepreneurs through training, mentorship and business development programmes.
The recognition, it noted, reflected its investment in Zambia in initiatives aimed at strengthening women-led businesses, including the W-Academy, which provides financial literacy, entrepreneurship training and business development skills.

The bank said it also runs quarterly SME Business Masterclasses that bring together entrepreneurs from different sectors to receive practical business training and networking opportunities.
It added it had also delivered entrepreneurship programmes, financial literacy initiatives and market access opportunities for women-led businesses across the continent.
Access Bank Zambia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Iheanyi Nwogu, said the award underscored the bank’s commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs.
“Women entrepreneurs are transforming economies, creating jobs and strengthening communities. At Access Bank, we are committed to going beyond financing by providing the knowledge, partnerships, mentorship and opportunities that enable women-owned businesses to grow, compete and succeed. This award is a celebration of the remarkable women we serve across Africa,” he said.
Nwogu said the bank remained focused on building an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem where women could realise their full potential.
“Our investment in initiatives such as the W-Academy and SME Business Masterclasses reflects our commitment to developing entrepreneurs who will shape Zambia’s future. By equipping women with the right skills, financial solutions and market opportunities, we are not only helping businesses grow, but also contributing to stronger families, thriving communities and inclusive economic growth,” he said.
