Makebi Zulu of the Patriotic Front (PF) has called on the party to remain united in order to continue being a force of change in the country.
During his inaugural and opening remarks at the Central Committee meeting held on Monday, April 20, 2026, Zulu urged members to break all factions that existed before the primary contest and emphasised unity and teamwork.
According to a statement issued on Monday evening, Zulu said he had embraced all members and leaders of the party in order to move as one ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
He also used the opportunity to report to the Central Committee on his efforts to promote unity and cooperation within the opposition.
Zulu stated that he had engaged leaders of Citizen First Harry Kalaba, Zambia Must Prosper Party leader Kelvin Fube Bwalya, Socialist Party leader Dr. Fred M’membe, and others to forge a strong working relationship aimed at “emancipating the country from tyranny and misrule.”
“The Party will launch a Special Purpose Vehicle to help achieve the goal of unity and the core duty to participate in the coming 2026 General Elections,” he said.
Zulu further said the Secretariat was finalising the adoption of candidates wishing to contest as Members of Parliament, Mayors, Council Chairpersons, and Councillors.
The Central Committee he claimed also ratified Zulu’s appointments of new members to the committee.

The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to unity, discipline, and preparedness for the 2026 General Elections.
Zulu also appointed Gabriel Kibombwe as Chairperson for Research and Strategic Planning.
He described Kibombwe as a longtime Central Committee member whose experience and skills would add value to the party’s preparations for the 2026 elections.
He also noted that Kibombwe previously served as National Youth Secretary, where he played an active role in strengthening youth structures and mobilisation.
