The Department of Immigration has warned the public against a fraudulent recruitment advertisement circulating on social media, describing it as fake and misleading.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by Chief Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka, the department clarified that it had not announced any recruitment exercise and did not authorise the advert inviting applications for positions of Immigration Assistants or Border Guards.

“The advert is not from the Department, and there is no ongoing recruitment,” Nshinka said, urging members of the public to disregard the message.

He stressed that the Department did not conduct recruitment through unofficial channels or unverified email addresses.

“Instead, all legitimate employment opportunities are communicated through recognised government platforms and credible national media outlets,” he said.

Nshinka further cautioned the public against submitting personal documents in response to the advert, warning that doing so could expose individuals to fraud or identity theft.

He added that the Department had launched efforts to trace the origin of the fake advert and was appealing to members of the public with information to report the matter to relevant authorities.

The Department has since advised citizens to rely only on official communication channels for accurate and verified information.
