Brighton ended their Premier League campaign on a high note with a commanding 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, but it wasn’t enough to secure European football next season.
Tottenham came into the match still basking in the glory of their midweek Europa League final win over Manchester United, and they looked to be on course for another celebration after Dominic Solanke converted a 17th-minute penalty following a clumsy foul on Mathys Tel by Mats Wieffer.
However, Brighton spoiled the party, mounting a spirited comeback that underlined their attacking quality.

According to the BBC Sports, the Seagulls finished eighth in the Premier League standings, but results elsewhere meant that position did not guarantee European qualification.
After a lackluster first half, Brighton introduced Kaoru Mitoma at the break, and the Japanese winger immediately injected pace and purpose.
He won the corner that led to Jack Hinshelwood’s close-range equaliser, and the 20-year-old midfielder scored again 25 minutes from time with a sensational backheel finish from another set piece.
Matt O’Riley added a third from the penalty spot after Yves Bissouma fouled Diego Gomez in the box, and Gomez himself sealed the result with a spectacular curling strike in injury time—his first goal for the club.
Despite Tottenham’s early energy, Brighton’s intensity and creativity—particularly after Mitoma’s introduction—exposed the fatigue in Spurs’ ranks.
Hinshelwood’s brace, O’Riley’s composed penalty, and Gomez’s late screamer ensured a resounding win.
