Chabinga dismisses Lungu-Sampa reconciliation, insists he’s PF president

Mafinga Member of Parliament, Robert Chabinga, has insisted that he remained the legitimate president of the Patriotic Front (PF), dismissing the recent reconciliation between Matero lawmaker Miles Sampa and former President Edgar Lungu as meaningless to his faction.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka on Friday, Chabinga alleged that the Lungu-led PF was now working with certain diplomats in Zambia as part of a broader strategy to gain international support.

“We know their plan B. They are even working with ambassadors accredited to Zambia. Stop it. Don’t involve yourselves in internal matters,” he warned.

Chabinga maintained that no amount of money or pressure would compel him to relinquish the PF presidency, reiterating his endorsement of President Hakainde Hichilema as the preferred 2026 presidential candidate.

“No amount of money can move me from the Patriotic Front presidential seat. Their gathering means nothing to me. Do not be agitated,” he said.

He also questioned the legitimacy of Lungu, Sampa, PF faction vice president Given Lubinda, and Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda, asserting that they remain expelled from the party.

“Records are there to show when the decision to expel them was made. I am committed to doing things in an organized and principled manner,” Chabinga said, asserting his leadership and integrity.

This comes after the Lungu and Sampa-led PF factions publicly reconciled, with Sampa endorsing Lungu as the party’s 2026 presidential candidate in a move seen as a bid to consolidate power within the former ruling party.
