Concerns mount over reported homosexual content in Yo Maps’ ‘budget’ video

A Lusaka-based clergyman has raised concern over a scene in a recently released music video by Yo Maps, saying it raised legal and moral questions.

Patrick Osagie, Pastor-in-Charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Power Assembly Parish and overseer of RCCG Lusaka Province One, has criticized a scene in the song “Budget” which depicts two women kissing.

According to Osagie, the content promotes homosexuality, which he says is not permitted under Zambian law.

Speaking in remarks reported by Radio Christian Voice, Dr. Osagie called on authorities to take action, referencing government assurances on the country’s position regarding homosexuality.

“Either we call upon relevant authorities to implement the presidential reassurance that homosexuality is not allowed in the country and take action on the video,” he said.

Osagie further warned that such content could negatively influence young people and undermine cultural and religious values.

He added that the imagery runs contrary to Christian teachings and may contribute to behavioural shifts among children exposed to the material.

Meanwhile, another clergyman, Pastor Jeremiah Julius Ng’onomo, has also expressed concern over the continued circulation of the video online.

In comments reported by Atmosphere Daily, Pastor Ng’onomo said directives had been issued to the production team to edit or remove certain scenes deemed inappropriate, but these had not yet been implemented.

He disclosed that the producers were given a 24-hour deadline over the weekend to make the changes, but that the video remained accessible in its original form across digital platforms.

Pastor Ng’onomo warned that the video’s growing viewership raises concerns about exposure to underage audiences, particularly in cases where children may watch such content without parental guidance.

He noted that he only became aware of the video after young people brought it to his attention, highlighting what he described as differing levels of awareness among youths.

The clergyman has since called for immediate intervention, urging that the video be either edited to meet acceptable standards or removed entirely.
