The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) was crowned Federation of the Year at the Ministry of Sports Awards Gala held on Sunday night, topping a remarkable evening for Zambian football.
Leading the individual honours was reigning CAF Women’s Footballer of the Year, Barbra Banda, who won Sportswoman of the Year.
Rising star, Mercy Chipasula, took home the Young Female Sportswoman of the Year award.
Under-17 Women’s National Team coach Carol Kanyemba was recognised as Female Coach of the Year for guiding the Copper Princesses to the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic and lifting the COSAFA title.
Kanyemba, currently in Namibia for the 2025 COSAFA U-17 tournament, became the first Zambian coach to lead the team to back-to-back World Cup qualifications, cementing her place in the country’s football history.
