23-year-old, Young female model, TV and Radio presenter Ethel Paige Kamanga, also known as Ethy Paige, says a little push needs to be done in the modeling industry to help it grow.

“When I first started, I did a few photo shoots and people I worked with said I was really good, and so I continued doing more and further worked with Gift Casmit, which helped me to grow,” she said.

What she likes about modeling is the ability to express herself through photo shoots, adding that they explain different things about her
character, out to the public.

She revealed that her modeling journey lead her to become a brand ambassador of several fashion companies, due to her hard work.

“I am very lucky to get these positions as I
don’t have to stress with cosmetics and designer clothes all because of the hard work I put in,” she said.

Commenting on the modeling industry, she said it needs an extra push in order to steer it in the right direction.

“The modeling industry in Zambia is a bit tough, and I think that it needs an extra push by people who are creative and innovative enough
to help it get to where it has to be.

“A lot of models are exploited a lot especially when a modeling agency is run by a man, make it difficult for models to continue, so it really needs a push
in that area, to make it professional for the young girls,” she said.

Kamanga said she also has a passion for Radio and TV, making sure she devotes a bit of her time in that field as well.

“I am also a radio presenter for Kwithu FM, which I love very much as it allows me to be myself, as I inform a lot of people on various issues
within society through local language of Bemba, which I feel attracts a lot of people as they are free to express themselves.

“I also have a TV program every Friday called “The Lounge” were we talk about whats cooking in the entertainment world in Zambia, while mixing a few
gossip as well,” she said.

Her plans for 2023 are to remain relevant so that the younger girls can look up to her, as she focuses on devoting more time in modeling as well as trying out the art of acting.

Kamanga is currently pursing a diploma in Journalism and Media studies at Wasanji College in Lusaka, which she hopes to complete this year.

She said that the year 2022 has been positive for her modelling venture as she hopes to develop even more next year.
