Ex-Disaster Management boss, Kabwe, cautioned for being in possession of suspected stolen property

Kabwe Chanda, ex-National Coordinator, Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has been warned and cautioned by Zambia Police Service.

Chanda, 43, of New Kasama in Lusaka appeared before the Police Investigation Team for being in possession of property believed to have been stolen.

In a statement in Lusaka on Tuesday, Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, said they have recorded a warn and caution statement from Chanda.

Mwale explained that this in a matter involving a motor vehicle, Toyota Hilux bearing registration number BAC 7395, which is among other properties under investigations.

He said these were believed to be proceeds of crime under the company called Bellum, whose Directors are said to be on the run.

The motor vehicle which is believed to be in his possession was intercepted along the Great North Road around Katuba area on April 20, 2023.
