The remains of Corporal Sakachoma Muloke Stephen, the Zambian soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving under the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), arrived in the country on Saturday morning, June 28, 2025.
Sakachoma’s body was flown in aboard a Ugandan Airways flight and received with full military honours at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka.
Representing the Commander of the Zambia Army, Lieutenant General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele, was Zambia Army Colonel General Staff, Colonel Teddy Tembo, who led the solemn reception.

The untimely passing of Sakachoma stood as a reminder of the risks and selfless sacrifices that Zambian men and women in uniform endure in the pursuit of peace and global security.
In this time of mourning, the Zambia Army reaffirmed its solidarity with the bereaved family, pledging continued support as they navigate this difficult period.
“We honour Corporal Sakachoma’s bravery and unwavering commitment to duty. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the Army said in a statement.
