The government has reportedly released K30 million to facilitate the payment of retrenched workers from the Zambia Postal Services Corporation (ZAMPOST), in a continued effort to settle outstanding terminal benefits.
The latest disbursement marks the second phase of payments to former ZAMPOST employees, following the retrenchment of 98 workers in 2014 and 2015 due to rising competition from private courier services and other operational challenges.
ZAMPOST Public Relations Manager, Mthandazo Masango, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Monday, describing the release as a demonstration of government’s commitment to the welfare of retired public servants.

“We wish to inform the public and all stakeholders that government has released K30 million to facilitate the payment of retirees,” Masango said.
She stated that: “Payments will be made on a ‘first to retire, first to be paid’ basis, ensuring a transparent and fair process.”
Masango thanked the government for the timely release of the funds and commended the retirees for their patience and dedicated service to the nation.
She added that ZAMPOST remained committed to keeping stakeholders updated and will provide further communication as subsequent payments are made.
