Hichilema not a liar but should explain his unkept promises — Policy Analyst Musonda

Policy commentator, James Musonda, has said to avoid the tag of being called a liar, President Hakainde Hichilema should explain what was causing a serious mismatch between pre-election promises and post-election delivery.

“I am 100 percent sure President Hichilema is not a liar. However, he is doing what liars do by not explaining the misalignment between his pre-election promises and post-election delivery,” Musonda said.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Kitwe, he expressed disbelief that ZESCO Limited was projected to lose US$35 million monthly without government disclosing the total economic losses from key sectors of the economy such as mining, agriculture, service sector and the informal sector.

“In opposition, President Hichilema had a solution, where has it gone? This economy will shrink. We are in an economic crisis. The mines are yet to perform and now this,” Musonda said.

He recalled that during his time in opposition, he said loadsheding was caused by lack of leadership and thinking.

Musonda wondered what had happened to the leadership and thinking the president had while in opposition?

“The amendment of the Independent Boadcasting Authority (IBA) seeks to stop us from asking these kind of questions. Yet the president promised freedom of expression. This is not to mention cheap fuel, fertilizer, electricity, mealie-meal which are currently unaffordable for the vast majority of Zambian,” he stated.
