Massive shakeup in govt, as President Hichilema makes ministerial changes, terminating multiple key appointments (See list)

President Hakainde Hichilema has executed a significant reshuffle in his administration, terminating the appointments of several key officials at Ministerial and Permanent Secretary levels.

Effective immediately, Joseph Akafumba has been relieved of his duties as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security.

Additionally, President Hichilema has dismissed Henry Sikazwe as Muchinga Province Minister, Gregory Ngowani as Government Deputy Chief Whip, and Henry Mukungule as Permanent Secretary for Muchinga Province.

The reshuffle also includes the dismissal of Robert Kamalata as Permanent Secretary for Lusaka Province and Mighty Mumba as Permanent Secretary for Luapula Province.

Ringo Zulu has been removed from his position as Controller of Internal Audit at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.

Furthermore, President Hichilema has terminated the appointments of Augustine Kasongo as Permanent Secretary for Copperbelt Province and Mwamba Peni as Permanent Secretary for Special Duties.

In terms of new appointments, the President has named Njavwa Simutowe as Minister for Muchinga Province, Nason Musonda as Minister for Luapula Province, and Likando Mufalali as Government Deputy Chief Whip.

Other appointments include Mulele Mulele as Permanent Secretary for Economic Management and Finance, and Mwaka Mukubesa as Permanent Secretary for Budget and Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.

Prudence Kaoma has been appointed Permanent Secretary for Planning and Administration at the same ministry, while Lazarous Mwanza is appointed Permanent Secretary for Copperbelt Province.

Prudence Chinama will now serve as Permanent Secretary for Luapula Province, and Reverend Mathews Chilekwa takes on the role of Permanent Secretary for Muchinga Province.

Additional transfers include Maambo Hamaundu, formerly with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, now appointed to the Ministry of Defence.

Norman Chipakupaku moves from the Ministry of Defence to the Office of the Vice President as DMMU Coordinator, while Dr. Gabriel Pollen shifts from DMMU to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

Patrick Mucheleka has been transferred from Cabinet Office to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and Joe Kalusa moves from Cabinet Office to Lusaka Province.

President Hichilema expressed his gratitude to the officials whose contracts have been terminated for their service and wished them success in future endeavors.

He also congratulated the newly appointed officials and extended his best wishes for their success in their new roles.
